Algeria booked their place in the African Cup of Nations' last-16 stage with a 1-0 victory over Senegal on Thursday.

The match was billed as a showdown between Liverpool forward Sadio Mane and Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez.

However both players were relatively quiet throughout the encounter.

It was Youcef Belaili who stole the show, his second-half header enough to seal victory for Djamel Belmadi's team.
