Maguire eager to take Man Utd leadership role

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire is eager to take a leadership role with the club.

The England star was handed the captaincy for the Europa League clash against Partizan Belgrade recently and was again named skipper for the Carabao Cup clash with Chelsea.

Ashley Young took the armband back for the Premier League defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday.

“The two games that I have [been captain] I've really enjoyed it," Maguire told Stadium Astro.

“We don't want one captain at the club, we want numerous captains.

“We want leaders in the dressing room and I feel like we are starting to get this at the club now.

“Hopefully now we can keep progressing. It's a big blip today and we are really disappointed but we want to bounce back.

“It's a fantastic club, one of the biggest clubs in the world and I'm really proud to play for this club. I'm sure there will be good times ahead."
