MacDonald expects to remain in charge of Villa for Bolton clash

Kevin MacDonald expects to remain in charge of Aston Villa for Saturday's game against Bolton Wanderers.

MacDonald expects to take charge of the first team for Saturday's home match against Bolton, even though Gerard Houllier is set to be in the stands.

"The latest I've heard is that I will be making the training plans and picking the side," he said. "Gerard will be at the game. I met him Friday, he's a very intelligent man about football, he loves his football we had conversations regarding that and I think he'll do a very good job. I'd never met him before, but he's a football person.

"I'll be happy to work before the new manager officially takes over but I think he wants to get his own backroom staff.

"He asked me on Friday to do certain things. I work for AVFC - as caretaker - if Mr Houllier asks me to go scouting then I will."
