Luton attempted deadline swoop for West Brom winger Edwards

Luton Town attempted to secure winger Kyle Edwards on loan from West Bromwich Albion on deadline day.

The Championship side wanted to sign Edwards for the rest of the season, but the loan terms were too expensive for them.

Edwards has only featured in the FA Cup for the Baggies this term, and wants regular game time.

"I understand people might say about that, we inquired about Kyle and he wasn't available, which we knew pretty much straight away," Luton boss Nathan Jones told Luton Today.

"And if he was available, he wasn't available in the budget that we could afford, there's things like loan fees now, so he wasn't available.

"We quite like Kyle, it's wrong for us to speak about someone, but we have a constant look at good players and who can improve us, athletically, physically, technically and in the 11, we have that constantly.

"Some come off, some I read that we've been linked that have been absolutely categorically no, but Kyle we know about, he's a West Brom player and that wasn't possible, but that was just a quick phone call, we knew instantly, so we moved on quite quickly there."
