Lustig full of praise for Celtic mate Commons - 'His left foot is the best in the league'

Mikael Lustig has heaped praise on Celtic teammate Kris Commons following his brilliant display in the weekend's 3-0 win over Hibernian.

The 29-year old former Stoke City, Nottingham Forest and Derby County winger scored twice as the Hoops bounced back to winning form in fine fashion and Swedish defender Lustig, who scored the other, goal felt his mate was due some high acclaim.

Commons has been largely underrated this campaign, often falling in the shadows of leading scorer Gary Hooper, but Lustig believes he is a quality player.

"I would not say Kris has been underrated this season, not for me. If you train with him then you see the quality he has. His left foot is the best in the league," he said.

"Is there anyone technically better than him?

"To control the ball and put crosses in with both left and right foot, probably not.

"Kris has played really well, especially over the last few games. Everyone knows when he is on form he can score with left foot or right.

"Kris is really important to us. You need players like Kris and James Forrest, guys who can take the ball and do something special.

"He's like Gary Hooper, the two of them are really fast players. They are very quick over a few metres.

"In the dressing room Kris is talkative, but he is one of the oldest in there now so when he talks everyone listens.

"When I joined Celtic he was injured when I arrived. Then he was wonderful in the game against Rangers at home when we won 3-0.

"Since then Kris has been a massive player for us."
