Romelu Lukaku has been key in Inter Milan's move for Manchester United captain Ashley Young.
The veteran fullback is off contract in June, but has agreed to join Inter on a six-month loan ahead of signing permanently at season's end.
Corriere dello Sport says while Inter directors Piero Ausilio and Beppe Marotta both spoke with Young, it was a call from Lukaku which swung the deal.
The contract offered by Inter includes a 12-month option - though United so far are digging in their heels.
For the moment, the Premier League giants are insisting Young fulfil the remainder of his current deal through to the end of this season.
