Luka Modric has signed a new 12 month deal with Real Madrid.

The veteran admits he always planned to remain with Los Merengues.

He said, “I am very happy, it is what I wanted. I feel very proud to continue wearing this shirt. I feel very excited, with the physique to continue competing at the highest level and I want to continue doing that at Real Madrid.

"I've been saying it for a long time: Real Madrid is my club and in my head I just wanted to stay here.

“Real Madrid is the best club in the world. It is a special club, with an incredible history, with millions of fans around the world. There is nothing bigger than Real Madrid. To continue wearing this shirt is a pride, playing the Bernabéu is a dream for me.
