Luis Milla exclusive: Hazard can bounce back from injury at Real Madrid - just like I did

Luis Milla has used his own career as an example of how Eden Hazard can become a star for Real Madrid.

Real completed transfer that could rise up to €146m to sign Hazard from Chelsea in June 2019.

Injuries disrupted Hazard's debut campaign at the Bernabeu, limiting him to just 22 appearances and one goal across all competitions.

However, the Belgian is back on the scorers sheet after a stunning strike in the 4-1 win over Huesca on Saturday, which ended a year-long drought.

And according to Milla, there are similarities between his own start at Real and Hazard's.

Signed from rivals Barcelona in 1990, Milla spent the first seven months of his contract on the sidelines.

But the former Spain midfielder bounced back to become an important player for Los Blancos, winning two La Liga titles and the Copa del Rey in a seven-year stint.

"Everyone knows of Hazard's quality," Milla told Tribalfootball.com. "He has had bad luck with injuries and started off at Madrid 'con mal pie' (on the wrong foot) as we say in Spanish.

"Real Madrid have to be patient and wait for him to recover because he really is a very special player. When I joined Real Madrid, I was very quickly seriously injured in a match…the most serious injury of my whole career and I was out for 7 months.

"However, I recovered and I ended up playing for seven more fruitful years at Real Madrid. So, there is hope for Hazard."
