Lucas Torreira calls Arsenal 'one of biggest clubs in the world'

Impending Arsenal signing Lucas Torreira has labelled the club as one of the top teams on the planet.

Torreira, a 22-year-old midfielder who currently plays for Sampdoria, is hoping to become the Gunners next signing.

It is suggested by the Mirror that a £26.4 million offer has been accepted for the player.

He will join the likes of Stephan Lichtsteiner and Bernd Leno as a new Arsenal player this summer.

When the player, who is with Uruguay at the World Cup, was asked about his future after a win over Saudi Arabia, he said the following to reporters:

"No I don't know what is happening because the most important thing right now is the national team and our progress at the World Cup.

"Yes I know Arsenal is a good team - one of the biggest in the world - but right now I am wearing the shirt of my country and my focus is the national team.

"After the tournament is over it will all be clear but I am not looking at that moment yet.

"Now I am just feeling very good and very happy for the victory. I am happy for the moment the team is having as a group after getting to the next round."
