Lovren feeling settled and happy at Liverpool despite ups and downs

Dejan Lovren insists he is content at Liverpool even after a tumultuous start to life at Anfield.

The 26-year-old Croatian centre-half joined the Reds from Southampton in the summer of 2014 but failed to vindicate his £20million in his debut season on Merseyside.

This campaign, Lovren has started just six times in the Premier League but stepped into the vacancy left by Mamadou Sakho's knee injury on Saturday against Manchester City and will do so again in his 50th club appearance in Thursday night's Europa League clash with Bordeaux.

Despite his less than desirable beginning to life at Liverpool, Lovren says he is feeling confident in a Reds shirt and has assured fans that he is ready to step up under Jurgen Klopp.

"I would say it has been ups and downs but the most important thing is the present," said the former Lyon defender.

"I am feeling settled and happy in the club and I think the most important thing is we are playing well. I have been tested so many times in my life, even at other clubs, and this is just another school for me to learn at.

"When I am in bad situations I have great people around supporting me.

"I came here to be a standard player of Liverpool, not to be on the bench. There is no more pressure on me now. I need to go step by step and my performances will speak for me."
