Lommel signing Jesper Tolinsson: The ultimate target is joining Man City

Swedish defender Jesper Tolinsson says his ultimate goal is to play for Manchester City.

Tolinsson signed for City Football Group earlier this season from IFK Gothenberg and will join Belgian's City partners Lommel over the summer.

He told GT: "The plan is that I will play as much as possible and continue to take steps.

"It is up to me to perform and develop. Then the highest ambition is for me to go to Manchester City, it is clear that you have to have high goals.

"Then I know that not all guys end up there and that the road there is long. I take one step at a time."

On a role model, Tolinsson says Barcelona defender Gerard Pique is one he admires.

"It's always been (Gerard) Piqué. I have always liked him as a player and as a person. He has been underestimated over the years, but he has won everything. WC, EC, Champions League ... He is damn smart both offensively and defensively. Now he is a little more limited and has lost a little speed, but he is smart and solves it by reading the game. That's what the best players do."
