Loftus-Cheek insists Chelsea first-team comes ahead of his development

Chelsea youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek has stated that the overall benefit of the first team takes precedence over his personal development as a player.

Loftus-Cheek has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Chelsea this term and while his introduction into the team has not been spectacular, the midfielder has certainly made a lot of progress.

Now the 20-year-old has gone on to speak regarding his season so far and has stated that he is more concerned with the overall benefit of the Chelsea first team rather than his development as a player.

He told the Chelsea magazine: "Whether it's coaching staff or teammates, you're always getting feedback, at half-time, after games or even during games.

"One of the coaching staff will say, 'You did this well, you could do that better and maybe think about doing this next time.'

"You're always learning and people are always trying to help.

"For me, as a young player you don't need to set the world alight in your first few games in the team. It's about the team and if I have a job to do in the team, I will put that before myself.

"Obviously I want to do well, but the team comes first."
