Adel Taarabt was on target in his Italian debut but could not prevent AC Milan from losing 3-1 to Napoli on Saturday.
The Moroccan playmaker joined the Rossoneri from QPR on January 30, cutting short a season-long loan with Fulham, and made an immediate impact with a fine individual goal at the Stadio San Paolo.
Taarabt took possession of the ball at the halfway line, advanced into the Napoli area, before slotting past Liverpool loanee Pepe Reina in the eighth minute to announce his arrival in Serie A.
However, it turned out to be a disastrous evening for Milan who conceded within a few minutes to Gokhan Inler before Gonzalo Higuain scored a second-half double which kept the Partenopei in third spot behind league leaders Juventus and second-placed AS Roma.
For Milan, an eighth defeat of the season saw them drop to 11th despite the best efforts of former Tottenham midfielder Taarabt.
