LOAN WATCH: Newcastle's Marveaux gives Guingamp vital victory

Sylvain Marveaux was the hero for Guingamp as they defeated Greek side PAOK 2-0 in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The 28-year old midfielder, who is on a season-long loan from Newcastle United, scored twice for the French club as they opened their European account for the 2014/15 season.

Marveaux netted two quick-fire goals at the Stade du Roudourou early in the second half to give Guingamp maximum points to bounce back from their 3-0 loss at Fiorentina a fortnight ago.

The former Rennes man opened the scoring in the 47th minute when he pounced on a partial save from PAOK keeper Panagiotis Glykos before adding a second three minutes later when he curled home a free-kick with his left foot.

The goals were Marveaux's first for his loan club in 10 outings this season which has included five starts in France's top division.
