In a huge 1-0 win that saw Sheffield United leapfrog Leeds into second position on the Championship table, Dean Henderson, on loan Manchester United goalkeeper, kept another impressive clean sheet to see his side claim all 3 points.
The 22-year-old has featured between the sticks in every Championship game this season for the blades. However not only has he been a mainstay in goals but his form has been immaculate.
The Sheffield no.1 has played an enormous role in the Blades push for automatic promotion to the Premier League. After 40 games he has conceded a measly 37 goals, and kept a colossal 18 clean sheets, the most of any goalkeeper in the championship.
On Saturday afternoon against Preston North End, Henderson's top glovework was once again on display. Henderson made 3 important saves, the first coming in the 16th minute when Sheffield sloppily gave the ball away sending Callum Robinson in on goal who fired a shot, which Henderson (sporting a cap to shade himself from the sun) parried away from goal.
Again in the 91st minute when a Jordan Storey header from the centre of the box was sent goalward, Henderson once more saved the ball to assure the 3 points.
Sheffield manager Chris Wilder after the match commented: "(The) goalkeeper's made a couple of important saves… you could see how much they wanted this result today".
With 6 games to go Sheffield will look to the impressive form of United's Henderson to help secure a spot in the top 2. Henderson's form in 2019 has seen him keep 11 clean sheets in 15 games, 2 more than any keeper in Europe's top 5 leagues. This form will surely grab the attention of his parent club Manchester United as he continues to grow in stature.
