LOAN WATCH: Chelsea's Mount enjoys dream return for Derby

After his absence from the squad since the start of January due to a hamstring injury, Chelsea loanee Mason Mount exploded back onto the scene and was instrumental in Derby County's 6-1 win over relegation struggling Rotherham.

Starting on the left side of midfield in Frank Lampard's 4-3-3, Mount immediately stamped his influence on the game and was quickly into the thick of the action.

In the 12th minute of the game, Mount received the ball just inside the penalty box and turned gracefully, drawing a foul and winning the penalty. The penalty was struck home by Martyn Waghorn who ended up bagging a hatrick for the Rams.

After the break in the 48th minute, Jayden Bogle's overlapping run saw him cut the ball back into the penalty area where Mason Mount's lovely first time shot was fired hard and low into the back of the net with his right foot, making the score 4-0 and netting his first goal for the rams since the 29th of December.

Again in the 62nd minute, Mount's run into the box was rewarded as Harry Wilson's deflected cross found its way to Mount at the far post where he headed towards goal, only to be steered in by Duane Holmes.

Mount was eventually substituted off in the 76th minute to a standing ovation at Pride Park Stadium. Finishing the game with a goal, an assist, a penalty and operating at 87% passing accuracy, it was a return to first team football he only could have dreamed of.

His manager Lampard when asked after the game about Mount's return from injury spoke with glowing words.

“Ofcourse (we have missed him), Mason's so crucial because he's such a top young player".

Lampard lamented at missing his involvement for the last two months but noted “on the positive side, we've got him back, he looked great today and he's only going to be get better".

An important return for the 20 year-old Englishmen, who will look to help boost his sides chance for a top 7 finish as well as flashing his credentials for parent club Chelsea.
