Dirk Kuyt admits he hopes his performance for Liverpool last night caught the eye of Holland coach Marco van Basten.

Reflecting on his goal scoring display in the victory over Inter Milan, Kuyt said: "We are only halfway. But this is what we wanted. A victory of 1-0 was good, 2-0, with Gerrard was fantastic.

"Hopefully Van Basten was watching. I wanted this game to be very much like a little show. I wanted to prove that I can still play at this level. I think I was successful."
