Liverpool management are eager to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
Indeed, they favour a move for Werner over Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho.
Werner is the preferred choice as Sancho would be too expensive, says The Athletic.
The Reds would have to break their current transfer record to land Sancho, with a fee of £120million being mooted for the England international.
By contrast, Werner would be available for a significantly lower fee of £52million if Liverpool were prepared to meet his release clause.
A move for both stars is unlikely, given the huge combined financial outlay, but could be an option if one of Liverpool's current front three wanted to leave the club.
