Liverpool whizkid Doak hoping to soon meet and train with Salah

Liverpool whizkid Ben Doak is eager to learn from senior teammate Mohamed Salah.

Despite being just 16, Doak has quickly impressed at Anfield after moving from Celtic in the summer.

He enhanced his standing by netting on his Under-21s debut in Thursday's 3-1 win in Northern Ireland.

That made him Scotland's youngest ever goalscorer at that age group.

He said: “I look up to Mo Salah. Even if he's not having his greatest game he always pops up with a goal.

“I've not seen the first-team guys too often, but I think it's deliberate to make you want to get up there.

“If I saw them all the time it would be normal. It should be a privilege to be there with them.

“There have been a lot of adjustments for me over the last few months, but I've been comfortable and done really well with the changes.

“It's mostly been about getting to know new people, the football hasn't really changed.

“I need to keep getting better, particularly the off-the-ball stuff.

“Six months ago you'd never have found me defending! That's the difference between making it into a first-team player, rather than just a youth player.

“I am trying to strengthen my all-round game now. I also need to try to make what I do on the ball a lot better. That's one of my strengths, but you can always do better."
