Liverpool veteran James Milner admits he fancies their chances of winning the Premier League title.

The Liverpool “veteran" at 32 helped his old club City win their first league title for 44 years under Roberto Mancini in 2012.

Milner said: “Liverpool have an amazing history and that's why I wanted to come here in the first place. The club have won so many trophies but maybe not as many in recent history as we'd have liked.

“Arguably, a trophy is the only thing missing for us at the moment and I want to be part of starting that again here.

“To win the Premier League you've got to get yourself into a position halfway through the season where you're talked about as being a genuine contender – and then take it from there."
