Liverpool veteran Milner eases Conceicao 'best in world' claims

Liverpool veteran James Milner has dismissed claims from Porto coach Sergio Conceicao ahead of tonight's Champions League showdown.

Conceicao has declared Liverpool "the best team in the world".

Speaking as the Reds prepare to use last week's 2-0 first leg win at Anfield as a springboard into a semi-final against Barcelona, Milner said: “You get those compliments by playing good football over a sustained period of time, so we can take that as a compliment.

“But to be that – the best in the world - you have to win trophies, and that's something we haven't done yet and something we're trying to do this season.

“There are a lot of good teams left in the Champions League and it's down to us to prove that, and go and win these games and hopefully win at least one trophy this season. There are a lot of good teams between us and the last game of the season and we have to keep improving and playing like we are doing at the moment."
