Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is tracking Sunderland centre-forward Kenwyne Jones.
The People says Jones started the season with Southampton, scoring in their 2-1 opening-day defeat by Norwich before agreeing to join Roy Keane's side in a £6 million deal. And despite Sunderland languishing in the bottom half of the table, he has scored four goals in seven games since his switch.
Benitez is ready to double the price Keane paid for hitman Jones and any deal could also include out-of-favour Kop striker Peter Crouch.
