Liverpool U23 Cup tie with Wolfsburg postponed over coronavirus concern

Liverpool U23's clash against Wolfsburg in the Premier League International Cup has been postponed due to coronavirus concerns.

Liverpool were due to play the Bundesliga side on Tuesday evening at the Academy in Kirkby in a quarter-final tie.

However, the game was called off on Monday morning before Wolfsburg travelled to Merseyside. It's understood the German side were reluctant to travel, reports the Liverpool Echo.

No new date has been arranged for the game, which would have been the first U23s outing following the departure of former coach Neil Critchley to take over as manager of League One side Blackpool.

Several Champions League games will be played behind closed doors this week while FIFA have announced Asian qualifiers for the World Cup in March and June will now be played at later dates.
