Liverpool to step up pursuit of Borussia Dortmund defender Subotic

Liverpool have entered talks over the potential signing of Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic, according to reports from the Daily Mirror.

The Reds are currently facing an injury crisis in central defence as the likes of Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho and Dejan Lovren are all struggling with various fitness problems, leaving the ageing Kolo Toure as the only fit centre-half.

As a result, it is widely expected that manager Jurgen Klopp will be looking to make a swoop for a new defender during the January transfer window and it has been claimed that the Reds have initiated talks with Dortmund over the loan signing of Subotic.

The Serbian was a key member of Klopp's side during his successful spell at the Westfalenstadion but has hardly featured under Thomas Tuchel this season.
