Liverpool to miss Skrtel for up to six weeks

Liverpool's Martin Skrtel has revealed he will be sidelined for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury.

The Slovakian defender tore his hamstring in the weekend's 3-0 loss to Watford and will now be out of action until February.

Skrtel posted the following message on Instagram:

"After all rumours going around,i want to say the time i will spend on sideline wont be 3 months...after i suffered tear in my hamstring and tendon i will be out for 6 weeks...i will work hard on my recovery and will do everything to come back as soon as possible and even stronger than before!thanks for your support!"

Skrtel was initially ruled out for three months but that has been decreased following scans undertaken on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old is now expected to miss Premier League fixtures against Leicester City, Sunderland, West Ham, Arsenal, Manchester United and Norwich City, the Capital One Cup semi-final against Stoke City and the FA Cup third round tie with Exeter City.
