Liverpool throw-in coach Gronnemark: Gomez our best, but Klopp...

Liverpool's throw-in coach Thomas Gronnemark admits Joe Gomez is the best at the action in the squad.

Gronnemark has been employed as a throw-in coach on a freelance basis by the Reds for more than 18 months having been appointed by manager Jurgen Klopp.

"Joe Gomez throws the farthest, now over 37 meters, meaning from the sideline to the penalty point," he said, speaking to Kicker.

"But really the best are Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson. They throw very precisely and have an immense understanding of spaces and the situation.

"Each team has 40 to 60 throws per match, most of which are taken by the full-backs. In Liverpool there are six or seven players who usually throw. If things have to go quickly, the one closest to you is required, and that person should also be competent.

"But Klopp doesn't want to throw in far, but should be quick and smart. At Ajax, too, we almost never train throws that cross the goal like crosses. It must match the club's style of play."
