Liverpool are experiencing problems in their quest to sign RB Leipzig star Timo Werner.

The Reds hoped to have a clear run at the player, who reportedly wants to move to Jurgen Klopp's team.

But a report in Mundo Deportivo says that Barcelona are now looking at Werner as a summer signing.

Barca wanted to sign Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan, but the 22-year-old may be too expensive for them.

Werner has a £52 million release clause, which would make him roughly half the price that Inter want for Martinez.

If Liverpool wish to sign the player, they may have to move quickly to hold off Barcelona's advances.
