Liverpool target Teixeira wants Premier League move to brighten Brazil career

Liverpool target Alex Teixeira is hoping that a Premier League move will help him earn a call-up to the Brazil national team.

The Shakhtar Donetsk forward, who has been the subject of interest from Liverpool and Chelsea, is yet to make his debut for his country.

Teixeira, who has seen Shakhtar turn down an offer from Liverpool, would love to see a move to England's top flight come to fruition as he goes about pushing himself towards the 2018 World Cup.

"The way I play is looking to score. I could definitely add an attacking threat, especially if I'm paired with all of the talented players they already have in the squad," he told NBC Sports.

"For me, the English Premier League is the best league in the world. I believe in myself, and I feel that would be the best move for my career.

"I've reached an age, 26 years old, in which I'm really looking to break into the Brazil team. The 2018 World Cup may be the last I have a chance to play in.

"So I want to go to a big club and show what I can do at the highest level, and hopefully be selected for Brazil."
