Liverpool target Ayestaran and ex-Man Utd assistant Meulensteen

Liverpool have Pako Ayestaran and Rene Meulensteen in their sights according to reports.

The Telegraph is of the belief that the Reds have targeted Spanish coach Ayestaran and former Manchester United assistant Meulensteen as potential candidates to work alongside Brendan Rodgers at Anfield.

The Merseyside club want to restructure Rodgers' coaching staff and are likely to bring in an experienced assistant after getting rid of coaches Colin Pascoe and Mike Marsh last week.

Ayestaran, who served under Rafael Benitez at Anfield, recently managed Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv while Dutchman Meulensteen has spent time with Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala and Fulham since leaving Sir Alex Ferguson's side at Old Trafford in 2013.
