Liverpool have made an opening offer for Real Betis defender Aissa Mandi.

Radio Cope reports the Reds have lodged a €10m bid in an attempt to sign the 28-year-old centre-back.

The report goes on to add that Betis could be willing to part company with Mandi this summer, with the defender thought to have a €30m release clause.

Liverpool could well be in the market for a central defender this summer, after the departure of Dejan Lovren who left to sign for Zenit St Petersburg.

Mandi's versatility is believed to be an attractive proposition for the Reds, who value cover at the centre of defence, along with their fullbacks.
