The Englishman is alleged to have provided inside information to a family member, who put a bet on him transfering to Internazionale in Italy.
According to Sky Sports, it is unclear how Sturridge pleaded in the case.
He has responded to the FA before their deadline, which should move the case forward.
The charges against Sturridge relate to Rule E8(1)(a)(ii) and Rule E8(1)(b).
