Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge wants more time to answer the FA charge against him, according to Goal.
Sturridgeis being investigated regarding betting violations in relation to his loan move to West Bromwich Albion last season.
And according to the Reds, Sturridge has "stated categorically that he has never gambled on football."
He could still be found guilty if he provided information that led to someone else placing a bet on a transfer or game.
There is precedence for players being banned for betting violations, as Joey Barton got a 13-month ban. However, he personally had made thousands of bets.
Others like Andros Townsend and Dan Gosling only received fines for violations.
