Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah has paid tribute to his former AS Roma coach Rudi Garcia.

Garcia led Olympique Marseille to the Europa League final last season, where they were beaten by Atletico Madrid in Lyon.

Salah told L'Equipe: "My six months in Rome with Rudi Garcia? I remember well our first meeting. He was immediately kind and friendly. His way of dealing with players is remarkable.

"We did not work together for a long time, but I have to thank him, because he helped me a lot to feel good in the team, I who had just arrived and did not speak Italian.

"I saw that he had lost the final of the Europa League, I am sorry for him."
