Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is wanted by Southampton.

The Mirror says Southampton want to take Sturridge on loan for the rest of the season and rescue the striker from Liverpool's bench.

Sturridge is out of favour with Jurgen Klopp given the German boss's attacking riches and is keen for more time on the pitch.

And the Saints are looking to get value from the sale of Virgil van Dijk to the Reds.

But it is understood Liverpool do not want to let Sturridge go in January.

However, they may be willing to loan out Danny Ings to another Premier League club.
