Liverpool striker Balagizi stars for Crawley with brace

Liverpool striker James Balagizi struck twice for loan club Crawley Town on Tuesday in League Two, picking up the Player of the Match award in the process.

The 18-year-old recorded the first senior goals of his career at Broadfield Stadium, though they came in a losing cause as Kevin Betsy's outfit were beaten 3-2 by visitors Northampton Town.

Balagizi finished off two well-worked moves for his side as he completed the full match.

“Obviously coming away to play professional football, you dream of that as a kid, scoring your first goal," Balagizi reflected post-match.

“I'm really happy to do it here. It's unfortunate with the result, but I'm really happy to get my first two goals.

“I've been working with the coaches on my finishing. I've had a couple of chances in other games but thankfully the work I've been putting in is starting to show off."
