Liverpool star Robertson has his say on Alexander-Arnold changing positions

Andy Robertson says Liverpool team-mate Trent Alexander-Arnold is the best fullback in football, and questioned why he'd want to play midfield.

The 21-year-old was originally a central midfielder at Liverpool's academy, but can now put himself amongst the world's finest fullbacks.

"Trent for me is probably the best full back in the world. It's mad to think he's only 21, he'll just go from strength to strength," he insisted.

"It is amazing to be part of it with me and Trent. 100 per cent me and Trent bring the best out of each other.

"We have small competitions - that we can try and go and get one over on each other is enough for us.

"We want to beat each other and also give the best to the team.

"We did it last year, we had joint 25 assists between us in the Premier League, that to produce the numbers for the team, healthy competition is bringing out the best in us."

He added: "A lot of people can say he can play midfield. I don't want to talk him up too much because he loves thinking he can move into midfield!

"Hendo and the rest give him pelters for it! Technically he is more than capable, his range of passing, his awareness, he can do it.

"But whether he wants to make that move he'll maybe need to decide at one point but for what he is doing now, best in the world in his position I don't know why he'd want to change."
