Liverpool keeper Adrian elated after sealing Super Cup final win over Chelsea

Adrian was ecstatic after he helped Liverpool win the UEFA Super Cup final over Chelsea on Wednesday.

The Reds clinched victory in Istanbul thanks to the penalty shootout heroics of Adrian, who stopped Tammy Abraham's effort after the game finished 2-2 in normal time.

Olivier Giroud opened the scoring for the Blues before Sadio Mane equalised shortly after half-time.

Mane nabbed his second in extra-time but Chelsea responded through a Jorginho penalty after Adrian fouled Abraham in the box.

But it was the Spaniard who had the last laugh when he denied the 21-year-old's spot-kick when it mattered most.

Speaking after BT Sport: "Welcome to Liverpool! It's been a crazy week.

"I'm really happy for the team, I'm happy to play for Liverpool and happy for the fans. It was a long game but in the end a great finish for us."

On the penalty decision: "I tried to stop, I touched him, but he was looking for that.

"But it doesn't matter. At the end of the day it was a great result and we need to enjoy it tonight."
