Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has hinted he will be surprised if Raul Meireles is sold this summer.
Meireles has been linked with a move away from Anfield this summer.
Discussing the competition for midfield places at Liverpool, Gerrard told Chinese journalists: "Whoever I play with, it's not a problem.
"We have a lot of good midfielders here. For example, I think Lucas Leiva has been our best player last season.
"Jay Spearing emerged during the last few weeks and Raul Meireles has had a fantastic first season in English football. He has put in some great performances and scored some important goals."
