Liverpool were surprised by Luis Suarez's tweeted apology yesterday for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini.

The Independent says Liverpool had NO involvement in Suarez's apology - and no prior warning it was coming.

The Uruguayan went against the wishes of the Uruguayan football association and is said to have made the decision along with his agent, in a bid to force through his move to Barcelona.
