Liverpool set price for Newcastle, Burnley target Nat Phillips

Liverpool have set their price for wantaway defender Nat Phillips.

The Liverpool Echo says the Reds are willing to listen to offers for Phillips this month and are understood to have received several calls from clubs keen on finding out the status of the centre-back.

The 24-year-old has started just one game this season - the 2-1 win away at AC Milan in the Champions League last month - and wants to explore his options in an effort to find more game-time.

Burnley and Newcastle have previously been credited with an interest and now Watford are believed to have become the latest Premier League outfit to sound out Liverpool over Phillips' availability.

The Reds would be looking for somewhere between £12-15m for a defender who made 20 appearances last season that included eight of a 10-game unbeaten run towards the end of the campaign to help the Reds finish third.

It is understood sporting director Michael Edwards points to the £12m sum Burnley paid Stoke City for Nathan Collins last summer for the valuation of Phillips, who has played just three times this season.

A new long-term contract, signed on transfer deadline has helped preserve a valuation that has risen significantly over the last 12 months.
