Liverpool have turned down an offer from Fiorentina for Bobby Duncan.
Sky Italia says the Viola are understood to have offered around £1.6million for an initial loan with the option to buy.
But Reds academy director Alex Inglethorpe dismissed it as 'unrealistic'.
Duncan is frustrated by Liverpool's stance and wants the chance to talk to Fiorentina.
He attracted a wide range of interest last season after he scored 32 goals in all competitions for the Under-18 side.
