Liverpool are being linked with RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku.
The Liverpool Echo says Nkunku is being considered as a replacement for Mohamed Salah as they prepare to lose the Egyptian to next year's Africa Cup of Nations.
The 24-year-old is the closest statistical match to Salah across Germany, England, Italy, Spain and France this season - and sporting director Michael Edward's close relationship with Leipzig chiefs could give them the edge in the race for his signature.
The Reds have already successfully brokered deals with Leipzig for Naby Keita and Ibrahima Konate in recent years.
Nkunku might not be a Salah's level just yet but he has plenty of room to improve.
