Liverpool plan Salah and agent talks over contract plans

Liverpool are eager to know from Mohamed Salah whether he intends to stay long-term.

The Sunday World says Liverpool are preparing for talks with Salah and his advisers, with the Egyptian yet to make a decision on whether he will sign what might be the last big contract of his career with the Anfield club.

Speculation over Salah's future has been swirling in recent months, with the 29-year-old giving two interviews with Madrid newspaper Marca in recent months expressing his admiration for Real Madrid, with his current Liverpool deal set to expire in the summer of 2023.

With Liverpool's owners reluctant to offer long-term contracts to players over the age of 30, they will need to make a special exception to keep Salah for the next four years and yet there is no guarantee he wants to end his career on Merseyside.

Despite the suggestions that he may be eyeing up a move away from Liverpool, Anfield chiefs are hopeful they can secure Salah's future beyond his current contract, even though they are reluctant to break the club's current wages structure.

Salah's ex-Egypt teammate Mohamed Aboutrika went public to claim his close friend has "has a number of issues with the club" in an TV interview.
