Liverpool new boy Karius delighted to join historic and special club

Loris Karius spoke glowingly of the Liverpool Football Club after completing his transfer from Mainz on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper has joined the Reds on a five-year deal for a fee of £4.7million and is thrilled to have been given the opportunity to play for a club steeped in history with a special set of supporters.

"It's a very good feeling and it's an honour to play for a club like this," he told LFC TV.

"They have a special history and the fans are amazing here, so I look forward to playing at Anfield.

"A lot from watching them on TV. The history, everybody who plays football knows.

"Anfield is a special atmosphere, so [I know] a lot of stuff. I still remember the Champions League final against Milan.

"There a lot of things in my head when I think of this club."
