Martin Skrtel has stated that Liverpool need to be more consistent in order to challenge for a top four spot this season.

Liverpool continued their revival under Jurgen Klopp with a fine 4-1 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday and things certainly seem to be on the up for the Reds at the moment.

Despite the fine victory though, defender Skrtel is not getting carried away and has stated that the Reds need to be more consistent throughout the course of the season and also use their entire squad in order to be able to achieve a top four finish.

Skrtel told the Liverpool Echo: "Dejan (Lovren) came back into the team and played very well. Mama (Sakho) was unlucky because he was in top form but injuries are part of the game. It shows how important it is to have a big squad with players capable of stepping up when they're needed.

"Beating City like that will give us a lot of confidence but we need to play like that consistently.

"We could beat Chelsea and we could beat City, but we lost to Palace so we have to do better at home and keep improving."
