Liverpool are favourites to sign Georginio Wijnaldum, according to reports.
The Telegraph is of the belief that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has grown tired of his pursuit for Udinese's Piotr Zielinski and will now focus his attention on Newcastle United's Wijnaldum.
The 25-year-old Dutch attacking midfielder impressed for the relegated Magpies last season, scoring 11 goals and five assists, having joined from PSV Eindhoven for £14.5million.
It is understood that Newcastle are asking for around £25m for Wijnaldum but Liverpool are eyeing a fee of closer to £20m.
The report suggests that talks between Wijnaldum's camp and the Merseyside outfit are likely to increase over the next few days as Klopp strives to lure a quality creator to Anfield.
Everton and Tottenham have also been heavily linked but the latest reports indicate that Liverpool have edged ahead of their Premier League rivals.
