Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is moving for Derby County fullback Tyrone Mears.

The People says the defender has been one of the few positives in a disappointing campaign at Pride Park.

And his performances have not gone unnoticed by the Spaniard, who has approached his Derby counterpart Billy Davies with a view to doing business.

Mears began last season in the top flight after joining West Ham from Preston.

He still lives in the north-west, where he started out with Manchester City.
