Liverpool midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain: Crowd picked up on Klopp-Arteta clash

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain admits the players saw manager Jurgen Klopp clashing with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta during their 4-0 win.

The pair had to be separated in the first-half.

Oxlaide-Chamberlain said: "We always try and focus on ourselves and we're here for one reason and it's to compete for the title. We had a disappointing result last week and that's at the back of your mind against big teams. We knew the job we had in hand it was important for us to bounce back from the performance and the result against West Ham. We're most happy with the performance that brought the three points.

"If you can keep clean sheets you have a chance of winning the game - we have defended throughout the team as well as we needed to. We defend in a certain way and that's winning the ball back high and when we don't do that it has a knock on effect further back which we've suffered with a bit in recent games.

"We defended better from the front today, that gives us the basis and the defenders don't have as much to do. It's our job further up the pitch to defend better as a team. Clean sheet is massive and we have talent in the team to score goals which they did well today.

"I was happy with certain aspects of my game - defending and helping the team and winning the ball back, sometimes that's the least you can do. I should've scored to be honest, it was a mishit - there were areas I could've been better and would've liked to be better."

On the Klopp and Arteta argument, he said: "It was hard to not notice that - our job to keep focussed on what's happening on the pitch. The crowd picked up and benefited from that energy, maybe that was the turning point in terms of energy and atmosphere. It's our job to create the atmosphere with how we're playing and we did that today and the crowd were excellent. I've been the away side at Anfield and it makes things tougher, on this side it helps you. We stayed focussed and got on with the job in hand it was a good performance and we saw the game out well."
