Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita admits Bayern Munich clash is personal

Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita admits he wants some personal revenge against Champions League opponents Bayern Munich.

The midfielder is aiming for a fifth successive start when Jurgen Klopp's side entertain Bayern in their Champions League round of 16 first leg tie on Tuesday.

The German Cup clash between RB Leipzig and Bayern last season ended in controversy with Keita sent off after two yellow cards in quick succession as Leipzig tumbled to defeat on penalties.

And Keita said: "The dismissal left me extremely bitter. I thought the referee's decision was very harsh. I had taken a lot of fouls without any of them being punished. And then for me there were two quick cards.

"For me, this match is a chance to do better."

While Keita believes his recent clashes with Bayern can help Liverpool, he acknowledges there are several in the Reds camp who can similarly assist.

"I'm not the only expert in this regard - in Xherdan Shaqiri we even have an ex-Bayern player," he said.

"And of course our coach Jurgen Klopp knows all about them. But yes, I know about Bayern's strengths and how to play against them."
