Liverpool midfielder Max Woltman confident proving himself with Doncaster

Liverpool midfielder Max Woltman says he's determined to prove himself on-loan with Doncaster Rovers.

Rather than feeling downbeat at not playing more, he's determined to prove himself at the Eco-Power Stadium and is in no rush to return to Anfield as he eyes a potential promotion push.

“It (seeing a manager sacked) was obviously very different for me because I hadn't experienced anything like that in my career so far," he told the Liverpool Echo. “But it's football, it's a business game.

“You've got to get over it quite quickly, and adapt to the way the new manager wants to play. Get up to his speed and get in his good thoughts. Obviously it was very different but it's football and you've got to keep up with it.

“The new gaffer likes playing football. His style of play is really good and it suits me so hopefully we can build a good relationship and I can go on to play a lot of football and see what the season brings for me and the team.

“I'm finding it really good. I've settled well and all the lads made me feel really welcome from the get-go. It's really good being here and seeing what it's like around a first team environment week in, week out. Being on the away trips, in all the training sessions, and being with some senior pros. I'm really enjoying it so far.

“It's a lot more competitive at this level, there's a lot more on the line. People are willing to put their bodies on the line more. It's a big step in my career, joining Doncaster and playing men's football instead of being around academy football.

“It's very different but I feel the principles of the game are the same. Doncaster want to play football, I want to play football and obviously I'm willing to do the dirty side of the game, if needs be. I feel I've settled quite well and am getting used to how the manager wants to play and what the lads need from me as well.

“I want to see the team go for promotion. I feel like we've got a strong enough side and a good enough side to do that. If I can help the lads as much as possible, every day in training.

“I try to work the lads and they work me as well. I think we've got a really good chance of going for promotion. There would be nothing better than sealing the season off with it."
